The Maine Innkeepers Association (MIA) is sponsoring the 15th Annual Hospitality for Humanity. Member properties offer 50% off the regular rate in exchange for a $35 check to Habitat for Humanity. Each member property sets its own parameters for participation. Since the program’s inception in 2004, MIA has raised over $183,000. Last year (2016), MIA collected over $26,000, a record amount.

Camden Maine Winterfest is another reason to get outdoors and enjoy what midcoast Maine has to offer. New York Times Travel speaks of the U. S. National Toboggan Championship as a reason to gather in the cold, dark months of the year to have some fun! The Camden Maine Winterfest began as an extension of that fun. It is more than a week long event. It starts on Saturday, February 4 with community ice sculpting in the Camden Public Library Amphitheater. For a complete list of all of the activities click here.

A visit to Samoset’s Glacier Ice bar is a “must-see” outdoor winter activity in the Maine midcoast. Samoset’s Executive Chef, Tim Pierce, and his team carve over 20,000 pounds of crystal-clear ice into one of the “hottest and coolest lounges” found in Maine for two January weekends a year.

As a new comer to the winters of mid-coast Maine in 2015, we were pleased to learn of a community event called Pies on Parade. Two years later, we are starting our preparations for Pies on Parade 2017.
