The Camden Garden Club is the oldest Garden Club in Maine, and its annual garden tour has become so popular many tourists plan their vacations around it. The club's goal of preserving and beautifying the public spaces of Camden continues with it's current members. TOUR Date:July 19, 2012

Camden Hills State Park is a vast 5,700-acre park where visitors are treated to 30 miles of hiking trails, breathtaking views of surrounding hills and lakes, well-maintained and equipped campgrounds, and a large picnic area for family and friends. The National Park Service and the Civilian Conservation Corps created the park in the 1930s, formerly known as the “Camden Hills Recreation Development Area.” The name was later changed to Camden Hills State Park in 1947 and it has been one of Maine’s most popular attractions.

Recognized as one of the top 25 film festivals in the world for documentary films and filmmakers, the festival highlights work that shows dedication to craft and a unique and artistic approach to telling a darn good story. Welcome to the Camden Opera House! This grand building is a somewhat unexpected surprise to many that walk off the streets of bustling downtown Camden and find themselves in the halls of an exquisitely renovated Victorian opera house. Grand chandeliers, a lovely horseshoe balcony, antique moldings, detailed painterly restoration of friezes and beautifully replicated gilt stenciling are what you will experience. In addition, our 500-seat auditorium along with three lovely and diverse meeting/function rooms, strives to offer up-to-date technological resources to every user. The Camden Snow Bowl is a community owned ski and recreation area. From the summit of 1300' Ragged Mountain, home to the Snow Bowl's trails, skiers and riders have an incredible view of the Atlantic Ocean. It is a view quite unlike any other in the east. The Camden Snow Bowl really is "where the mountains meet the sea". In addition to alpine skiing and snowboarding, there are many other winter activities available at the Snow Bowl. A snow tubing slope provides fun for all family members, ice skating on Hosmer pond and a thrilling 400' toboggan chute. The National Toboggan Championships are held here the first weekend of February. There is also a cross country ski and snowshoeing trail available. Four lifts serve 850' of vertical. One chairlift, two T-Bars and a surface lift in the beginner area service the ten trails and a terrain park. All trails lead back to a classic A-frame lodge where you will find all services. The Camden Snow Bowl has a ski and snowboard school, full rental shop, an active youth racing program and a fully qualified ski patrol. Coastal Maine sees its share of big winter storms, but we have a snowmaking system that covers 45% of our area to ensure plenty of skiing and riding. Most trails are groomed daily. A year round recreation area, the Camden Snow Bowl offers hiking, mountain biking, tennis courts, ball fields and a summer youth rec program. Fishing, boating and swimming are possible on the tranquil Hosmer pond. Many four legged friends and their owners are often found recreating together. In the autumn, there are fall foliage pancake breakfasts and chairlift rides and a mountain festival. Facility rentals are available all year for parties, weddings and reunions. After serving prominent careers in the coastal cargo trade, these turn of the century tall ships became part of "Windjammer Cruises", founded in 1936. Our company's innovation of taking passengers on sailing vacations aboard working schooners is responsible for the preservation of many vessels.

The Schooner Olad was originally called the "Whistle Binkie." Horace Manley Sr. designed her in 1926 for Alexander Smith of New York City and Great Island, W. Yarmouth, Massachusetts. The vessel was built over the winter of 1927 and was launched for the 1928 season from the Crosby Yacht Building & Storage Co. in Osterville, Massachusetts.

Built by the Waddell shipyard in Rockport, Massachusetts for Martin Kattenhorn, Surprise began her life as a racing and cruising yacht. Mr. Kattenhorn had commissioned Thomas McManus, the most famous American designer of fishing schooners, to design a vessel of about 45 feet, which could be safely sailed by a crew of no more than three persons. The Camden Conference was founded in 1987 as a nonprofit, non-partisan educational organization whose mission is to foster informed discourse on world issues. In the years since, it has convened its annual Conference on the third weekend of February in the historic Camden Opera House, drawing some of the best minds on foreign policy to share their insights and expertise on a range of global issues with the community.

An eclectic mix of thought leaders and visionaries will convene in Camden, Maine for our 16th annual gathering. The North Atlantic Blues Festival is an annual two-day blues music festival featuring national blues performers and considered one of the most prestigious on the East Coast. The festival is held at the Public Landing in Rockland, Maine, overlooking the picturesque Rockland Harbor. Some of the top names in blues music have been featured at this prestigious East Coast festival. In addition to all day live entertainment, the festival has vendors selling a wide array of food, drinks and crafts. Saturday evening Main Street is closed to traffic for the NABF Club Crawl. Attendees of legal age, wearing their wristband from the festival are allowed admission to the many bars and restaurants featuring many of the top regional blues performers. Celebrating Maine’s Role in American Art, the Farnsworth Art Museum offers a nationally recognized collection of works from many of America’s greatest artists.

The Maine Lighthouse Museum (MLM) is the proud home of the largest collection of Fresnel lighthouse lenses and the most important landmark collection of lighthouse artifacts and Coast Guard memorabilia in the United States. The museum has just merged the lighthouse collection from the former Museum of Lighthouse History of Wells, ME with the MLM exhibits. The two collections are now on display and compliment each other. The museum is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m to 5:00 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Admission is $5.00 for adults. Children free.

The winery is named after the mile-long breakwater that protects the harbor in Rockland, ME. A portion of profits is donated to restoration efforts of the historic lighthouse.
